I’ll be running a photography workshop on the 6th of October 7:30pm at Flight Club. I’d like to help tackle the gender inequality within the creative industries so this first workshop will be for women only. (All the requests I’ve had to run a workshop have come from female community members.)
For those unaware - female photographers in particular make up only a tiny portion of the professional photography workforce (13-15%) despite representing the overwhelming majority of graduates (70-80%) - I strongly suspect these percentages are more extreme around the sports content world based on my own experience. These numbers have knock on effects within the content we see, and the values conveyed through them (overwhelmingly male views and male values), translating to not just a poor representation of the real world in workforce numbers - but in the representation of societal values and issues.
The workshop: we’ll be covering photography basics but the aim is to help you express your own photographic voice, so it’ll be less about photo-theory and more how to tell your story visually and engage with an audience.
If you have a camera bring it along, if not, no problem your phone is fine. Some of you have also asked for some help in picking a camera so we can go through this too.
When: Thursday 6th October, 7:30pm Where: Flight Club What to bring: notebook and pen Cost: 20chf
Please RSVP to me if you’re coming so I have an idea of numbers, Thanks! Guy
